Hypnosis Can Free You
Myths and Misconceptions
First, it is important to clear up any misconceptions you may have about hypnosis. The most important one is that a hypnotist has absolutely NO control over you, in any way or at any time.
Hypnosis is a very deep state of relaxation, during which the mind is very sharply focused on the suggestions being given by the hypnotist. While in hypnosis, you are free to decide whether to accept or reject the suggestions. The ones which are accepted will "stick" and work for you. The ones you reject will not affect you in any way at all.
Yes, I know, we've all seen or heard about the stage hypnotists who get people to do ridiculous things in front of a room full of strangers, then miraculously, these people have forgotten every bit of it when they are no longer in a state of hypnosis.
However, the only way that this could happen is that those people agreed to every one of those suggestions to do ridiculous things, and they also agreed to the suggestion that they would forget all about it. Such people do this in the spirit of being at an event which is for fun and entertainment, and may also simply be curious to see whether it could actually work. But in either case, they had to agree to the suggestions that made them behave in that way, or they would not have been affected at all.
Another common misconception about hypnosis is that the subject is asleep or unconscious during the session. It is true that occasionally, someone will drift off and fall asleep but an astute hypnotist will recognise this (easier if the subject snores!), and will talk the person back out of sleep and into the hypnotic state, and carry on with whatever work is being done.
Aside from those rare occasions, subjects remain awake and aware of everything, with the mind very sharply focused during the hypnotic state. You will also remember virtually every moment of the experience, if you choose to do so.
